Pictures of sleep. The day after the night of insomnia. Inside landscapes.
We seek the depth of sleep, the depth of landscape. We turn away from geographically recognizable places, we look for textures. We try to let them become the sleep material of the Sleeper. As if we could see around her the inside of her dream, her impression.
"Before being a conscious spectacle, any landscape is a dreamlike experience," writes Bachelard. The Sleeper is absent, her dream appears. Sometimes the landscape invades the bed and becomes a blanket.
These images are taken in the darkroom. We take time to let ourselves be inhabited by space, and to live there too.
We set up our bed in the Pyrenees during Summer 2009, in Frioul Islands in Autumn, in Névache valley in Winter, and we arrived in Spring 2010 in Vitrolles . Since then, we have made landscape covers in Ardèche (Sur le Chemin des Lauzes) and in Camargue. We also reach a high mountain valley in Gap region in September 2015.
In the theatres where we perform the show, we often invite the photographic project : an exhibition of images takes place in the theatre or a nearby space. The images also have their own life, and are regularly exhibited without the show.
